Christian Yoga Alternative
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Cor 5:17 ESV
Keola® is a new exercise, birthed through and for the Spirit of Christ, and completely separated/set apart from yoga. Yoga is about the movement and being transformed from the outside-in through the discipline of practicing, being slowly perfected and enlightened by it.
Keola®, on the other hand, tells a story. From the position names to the specific elements that are consistent throughout all the physical fitness classes (see left "Redemption Expressed"), you will experience the love story of the Good News of Jesus and be encouraged and transformed by that Word of Christ.
Some of the positions (which did not originate in yoga) look the same, just like you did on the outside immediately after accepting Jesus, but you were a totally new creation. It shifted from what you do to what He's done and whose you are. You were at that moment perfected in the eyes of God: fully righteous by faith. Similarly, these movements (which are not "bad" in and of themselves, but were taken as offerings to pagan gods) and the many physiological benefits associated with them have been bought back and now used to glorify Jesus by proclaiming His Gospel.
Keola® Christian alternative to yoga is wholly new, dedicated to, and submissive to the One True God. May you be blessed in spirit, soul, and body as you experience the Gospel through movement and spend time with Father God while doing it.
Another Great Choice:
When Alli Becker began obediently teaching exercise that included "yoga" postures, the Holy Spirit highlighted some things to omit completely or change revealing Jesus that were common practice in regular yoga classes. She asked the Lord, "How can I make this more Yours?" Each unique element that is added to Keola® classes is part of His blessed answer.
Class opening in prayer for growth in the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23) and Christ.
Choosing one fruit as a focus of the session.
Transitional Son Series
A series that commemorates Christ's victory over death through positions symbolizing His path from the cross (Cross position) to His resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father (Seated with Christ position).
Scripture and Gospel teachings incorporated into the movement.
Position names that declare who you are in Christ.
A new element launched in March 2014. The definition of position is "a place where someone or something is located or has been put". By accepting Jesus as Lord, you have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Light (Col 1:13). These namespowerfully proclaim your new identity in Christ.
His Child position resting moments added into the sequence for "rest and praise" time with Father God.
The most significant element given to set Keola® apart in fitness. A portion of each session spent in "The Cross" (Tree) Position. Reflection here on grace, forgiveness, thanksgiving, or something relating to this incomparable sacrifice and how Jesus transforms lives and freely gives life, peace, and healing.
Personal time with the Lord for prayer.
Final relaxation/biblical meditation with encouragement to actively listen to God.
Class closing with "The Christ in me sees the 'Christ in you, the hope of glory' (Colossians 1:27)..." and prayer in the name of Jesus.
"Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come." 1Timothy 4:8 NLT
Keola® Christian fitness and yoga alternative beautifully marries these two important areas, creating a unique physical fitness workout that benefits spirit, soul, and body.
In 2008, the Lord began leading Alli Becker to bring exercises to the public that included Him, specifically within the mind-body pilates and yoga genre. She responded by becoming ACE certified and training in teaching techniques. In February 2009, she taught her first class. Through trial and prayer, Keola® was officially born.
Alli created Keola® in order to enable others to benefit from the peace, energy, and well-being that accompany a lifestyle of growing in Christ actively. She hopes to restore hope and inspire others to honor God by caring for the bodies He has given them, demonstrating that through Christ healthy living can be simpler, enjoyable, and bring glory to God.
